Hand Painted Antique Kitchen Cabinets
The Kirkham Kitchen Project
This kitchen project in Kirkham features beautifully crafted cabinetry finished with a bespoke hand painted antique paint finish. We were engaged to apply a soft neutral colour that enhances the classic detailing of the joinery while creating a timeless and elegant aesthetic. The hand painted finish introduces subtle depth and character, giving the cabinetry a refined look that complements the overall kitchen design.
The Cabinet Finish
The cabinetry was finished in a cool Dulux Lexicon Quarter, selected to create a bright yet timeless palette. This colour works beautifully with traditional and shaker-style kitchens, allowing the joinery profiles and decorative mouldings to stand out while maintaining a clean and balanced look.
The subtle antique finish adds gentle depth to the cabinetry, highlighting the craftsmanship of the doors and panels while creating a slightly aged character.
The Hand Painting Process
Achieving a refined hand painted cabinet finish requires careful preparation and attention to detail. Each surface was professionally prepared before multiple layers of premium paint were applied by hand.
This traditional method allows the finish to develop a soft depth and texture that cannot be achieved with standard factory spray coatings. Hand painting also enhances the natural detailing of the cabinetry, making it particularly well suited to classic and shaker kitchen styles.
