Brush-Painted Traditional Kitchen Cabinets
The Bundanoon Kitchen Project
This kitchen is a true reflection of premium craftsmanship, thoughtfully created to honour the character of the original cottage while elevating it for modern living. The client opted for a hand-painted finish to achieve a softer, more authentic feel, one that sits comfortably within the home rather than feeling overly polished. The result is a space that feels warm, considered, and timeless, where the quality of the joinery is enhanced through a finish that celebrates, rather than hides, the craftsmanship beneath.
The Cabinet Finish
The chosen colour, Dulux Linseed, brings a gentle warmth that feels both natural and refined within the space. Its soft, earthy undertones introduce a quiet sophistication, while maintaining a sense of calm and serenity throughout the kitchen. Rather than dominating, the colour works in harmony with the surrounding materials, allowing the craftsmanship and detailing of the joinery to remain the true focus.
The Hand Painting Process
The brushed hand-painted finish is achieved through a careful, layered process that begins long before the final coat is applied. Each surface is meticulously prepared, with extensive sanding, priming, and refining between coats to create a flawless foundation. The paint is then applied by hand using traditional brushing techniques, building up soft layers that introduce a subtle texture and depth. It’s this time-intensive preparation and application that allows the finish to feel rich, consistent, and full of character. Something that simply can’t be replicated by machine spraying.
